Morning:
A beautiful morning is waiting for you ahead, picked up and escorted by our guide, you will feel comfortably to walk along the small and narrow streets in French colonial quarters to see houses with French architecture, daily life of local people associating with shops, small stalls selling everything. Hanoi city is known with 36 streets and guilds built in the 15th till 18thcentury under the Le Dynasty. During different historical periods, the old Quarter had a varying number of guilds with specific streets. The walk will take you to guilds divided into 3 kinds such as agriculture, handicraft and merchant. Strolling along street like Bong street, Gai street with silk and painting shop, Dao& Duong street for clothes and watches shop, Lo Ren street with blacksmiths, Hang Ma street with things made of paper offering to the dead, Hang thiec (Tin street), Hang Dong (Bronze street), Hang Bac (Silver street), you will see with your own eyes activities and products selling directly at these streets.
Stop over at Dong Xuan and Bac Qua market to see local people trading, selling everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, animal to clothes, fabrics, household equipments. Seeing Hanoians, Hanoi traffic in the small and narrow streets by sitting at local coffee shop to taste Hanoi’s coffee flavor. The next destination that can not be missed is a beautiful house at 87 Ma May street, an exquisite Chinese merchant’s home that was restored and opened as a museum. Enjoy your lunch with Hanoi street foods with your choices such as: chicken or beef noodle, barbecued pork & fried spring roll with fresh noodle.
Afternoon:
Take a car to Museum of Ethnology, the museum of Ethnology has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority people. The museum features an astounding collection of art and everyday objects with some 15000 artifact gathered from throughout Vietnam. Visiting this museum, you can enter a traditional Black Thai house reconstructed within its ground. After that, leaving this museum, passing by Ho Chi Minh complex, then heading to Temple of Literature which was founded in 1070 by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, who dedicated it to Confucius to honor scholars and men of literary accomplishment. This is the first university of Vietnam dating back to 1070. Inside are the stone stele mounted on the back of turtles, inscribed with the names of the university’s graduates. The complex is divided into 5 courtyards with different path that would have been reserved for the Emperor and mandarins. One of the courtyards contains the statue of Confucius guarded by 2 beautiful bronze storks standing on turtles. The temple highlights the importance influence that Vietnamese society has placed on education. Continue your trip to Hoan Kiem lake (Returned Sword) to get to know the legend of this lake and will be ended with a water puppet show, one of the traditional arts in Vietnam.
